SEMA/AAPEX SHOW, LAS VEGAS, Oct. 31, 2006 — Have you ever wondered what causes a dust film to form on the inside of your windshield? Or, maybe you've encountered stale, musty air or unpleasant odors inside your car. The outside air coming through your heating and cooling vents may be the problem.

To help improve comfort for drivers and car passengers, FRAM®, leaders in filtration, is teaming up with ARM & HAMMER® to introduce the new FRAM Fresh Breeze Cabin Air Filter. Together, these two brands have created the first automotive cabin air filter that not only filters contaminants like road dust and pollen, but also absorbs odors using the power of baking soda.

"A dirty or clogged cabin air filter could potentially cause contaminants to become so concentrated in the cabin that passengers may breathe in more fumes and particles when riding in the car than when walking down the street," said Katina Wall, FRAM product manager.

Airborne contaminants and odors can enter the passenger compartment through the vehicle’s ventilation system. Most drivers are not aware that the air inside your vehicle can be more polluted than outside air.

The new FRAM Fresh Breeze Cabin Air Filter can filter 98% of contaminants in the 5-100 micron size from the air that passes through the filter (human hair measures 50 microns). Additionally, baking soda helps absorb odors as it passes through the filter and freshens the air before drivers and passengers breathe it in.

"The Fresh Breeze Cabin Air Filter represents a growing segment in the automotive filtration industry," said Wall. "Twelve million new vehicles each year are produced with an interior air filter compartment and it is expected that well over 100 million vehicles in North America will have an interior air filter compartment within two to three years. By partnering with ARM & HAMMER Baking Soda, FRAM is showcasing its commitment to remaining a leader in the filtration industry and producing quality products for consumers."
