DRIVERS CAN AVOID HASSLE OF SCRAPING ICE FROM CAR WINDOWS
New Product from Prestone Helps Prevent Ice from Adhering to Glass in Frigid Temperatures
DANBURY, Conn., November 28, 2006 — Removing ice from a vehicle’s windshield after temperatures plummet is both exhausting and time consuming. That’s why Honeywell Consumer Products Group, manufacturer and marketer of Prestone® Products, developed this "night before" Ice & Frost Shield vehicle glass treatment.
Many drivers don’t have the luxury of parking their vehicles in a garage at night during the cold weather months. With their already hectic schedules, they must rise at least 15 minutes earlier and spend time in often frigid conditions scraping ice, frost and snow off their vehicles before leaving for their morning commute or running weekend errands.
Prestone® Ice & Frost Shield can help give drivers some extra time. Morning frost and light ice can easily be wiped clear with either the vehicle’s windshield wipers or a snow brush after spraying a vehicle’s glass with Prestone® Ice & Frost Shield the night before.
"We know how pressed people are for time and we also know how inconvenient and tedious it is to scrape off a windshield covered with ice," said Ken Gaynor, product manager for Prestone. "Ice & Frost Shield really helps drivers take back winter, a time of year most people dread when it comes to commuting or travel. It’s perfect for folks living in cold weather markets that don’t have a garage to store their vehicle in. Moms and students can especially benefit."
The product, which recently won a 2006 Hot Product of the Year Award from DSN Retailing Today and was also recommended by the Good Housekeeping Institute in January of this year, is simple to use. Drivers need to spray Prestone® Ice & Frost Shield on the glass surfaces of their vehicle once the vehicle is parked for the night.
Ice & Frost Shield glass treatment is designed to be robust and resilient. The formula imparts an overnight barrier to the glass, thus reducing the adhesion of the ice and frost to the windshield and other surfaces. This dramatically reduces the time, effort and hassle it takes to clear the glass off.
The treated glass will stay clear of frost while just a few swipes from windshield wipers or a snow brush will easily clear heavier amounts of frost, snow and ice. It can also be used during the day while people are working or when the vehicle isn’t being used for longer periods of time. Retailing at approximately $4.99, the 32-ounce spray bottle is available at select automotive retail outlets including Wal-Mart and Kmart.
